Officers, coaches, college athletes, and hundreds of PAL students come together for a week of sports and summer fun at the PAL Gannon University Commuter Camps each July. As the first PAL camp in the nation to partner with a university, this program introduces students to a variety of sports taught by Gannon coaches and athletes. In addition to athletics, PAL officers facilitate interactive police activities like crime scene investigation and fingerprinting, and local professionals teach topics ranging from healthy eating habits to drug and alcohol prevention. And the week wouldn’t be complete without a day at the pool!
PAL provides a unique learning environment where children develop problem-solving skills, teamwork and gain diverse perspectives. These camps offer a safe space for students to discover their independence, learn responsibility, and achieve goals in a supportive and secure environment. Cops and kids get to know each other at a personal level and create lasting bonds that carry through camp and beyond. And thanks to our sponsors and volunteers, camp is absolutely free so that every kid can get up, get out, and go play!
